hi. what browser/OS are you using? i just played the files on that item with no issues on MacOSX.

If you look at the item, no ogg files have been generated, there are just the original MP3s. So HTML5 playback is not going to work in e.g. Firefox. (It does seem to still work for me but it must be pulling in the flash code somehow.)

It would be nice as an end-user to have a button or the like to request a derive on items like that (maybe passing through a human moderator), I come across them from time to time.

That's not a very typical setup. I'll pass your concerns along but I hope you understand that we can't necessarily implement something that will work with all browsers, all operating systems and on all devices.

Of course, I understand. However, is there any way you might be able to leave the option to revert to the old player in place, for those of us using non-standard systems? There are currently 13,079 users registered with elementaryos.org - that's a pretty good slice of humanity, and it's my guess that each of those 13,079 people will be experiencing issues with the new player.
